About

Lorraine Harwood and Rio
Printing and Graphic Design has been my passion since moving to Calgary in 1982.  I was employed as a Diazo Operator creating blue prints and other emulsion based printing at West Canadian Graphics.

I soon moved to more challenging rolls in their printing department.  I started working for Sorenson's Printing and began my apprenticeship in Printing and Graphic arts in 1984.

In May of 1987 I got a position at the Calgary Herald and became a compositor.  During the years at the Calgary Herald I still continued my apprenticeship and became a Journeyman printer in 1990.

I left the Calgary Herald in 1997, and moved to Offset Printing at The Print Shoppe in Calgary, Alberta. I trained on the letter press and cutter as well as variety of bindery equipment.

Since moving to Vancouver Island in  2001,  I have been working ion Graphic Design and in early 2009 I decided it was time to open my own business in Qualicum Beach.  I named it The Print Shop after Guy and Linda at the Print Shoppe in Calgary.
